ABSTRACT

The working premise of this paper is that the foundation of "good" old age, that which prolongs independent living, rests on three supports: good health, good feeling of self-worth and good sense of economic security. While the focus of this paper is on money and economic security, it is not to the exclusion of the other two elements. To do otherwise would be to reduce the discussion to the mathematics of finance and standard professional approaches to personal finance and consumer protection.
