ABSTRACT
Expenditure on the nation’s housing stock comes from a wide variety of sources. It is perhaps most useful to divide the stock into public and private sectors when examining funding sources. The public sector consists largely of property owned by local authorities, and housing associations. The private sector stock consists of owner-occupied and privately rented accommodation. The breakdown of the housing stock in tenure types is included in Table 3.1.
