ABSTRACT
A false friend is a word in one language that looks like the same word in another, but that actually has other, related or completely different meanings in the second language. These verbal traps are of two kinds: words that do mean what they look like, but also something different; and words that do not mean what they look like at all. Examples are the best way to show you what we mean.
