ABSTRACT

It is easier to write when you are confident about choosing proper words and putting them in the right places. You should be confident if you have been taught the skills of writing, or have read carefully some good books about style like those in the Further reading list starting on p. 204. These explain, with differing emphasis and in varying detail, the good and the bad in microstyle-the role of grammar and good punctuation in bringing clarity, the importance of correct spelling, the lurking danger of verbosity.
