ABSTRACT
Gaelic football is the national game in Eire and is played also in countries with a sizeable population of first, second and third generation Irish immigrants. These include the United Kingdom, U.S.A., Australia and now European Community countries. The game was formally organised at about the same time the other football codes were being regulated and the first All-Ireland Championship was played in 1887.
