ABSTRACT

The aim of using diagnostic means and methods in soccer is to obtain the highest degree of objectivity in the evaluation of a player's performance during training and in matches. New technology now enables coaches and physical education experts to make more exact and more complete assessments of a player's performance with regard to fitness, motors kills, or the realization of tactical abilities. This will be demonstrated by giving examples of how such technology has been applied in the area of physical conditioning. Actual results of a test study done in training with a Junior A-team (17–18 year olds) are presented in the form of computer print-outs. Finally, the implications of using video technology in training and game analysis are briefly discussed.
