ABSTRACT

If you consider yourself ‘computer literate’, then this chapter may well be one that you might skip. A computer rep. who I once met defined surveying as a ‘word processing function’. At the time, it was something of a sales pitch, but I doubt if nowadays there are many surveyors’ offices (of any type) that aren’t harnessing the power of the computer in one way or another. When considering Domestic Surveys, there are probably two main uses, which are:

(a) Word processing (b) Structural calculations.
