ABSTRACT

This paper is concerned with strategy formulation in the “building surveying consultancy industry” but it can also be applied to other similar construction related professions. It analyses the structure of the industry by examining the competitive forces driving industry competition and concludes that the industry is unattractive. It discusses industry evolution and proposes that the industry is reaching maturity. It looks at the strategies which might be appropriate for carpeting within the industry and finally looks at potential pitfalls.
