ABSTRACT

The operation of the industrial property market described here is basically that which has been developed in the western part of Germany, i.e. the Federal Republic before unification with the GDR. It is thus a system developed in the context of a highly industrialized and successful economy. However, the total population of Germany is now about 78 million, occupying 357 000 km. Reference is therefore made to the situation in the eastern part of the country (the former German Democratic Republic) in addition to describing the industrial property market as it has evolved in the western part.
