ABSTRACT

Last September I went to the Tokyo Game Show. Of all the games expos, the Tokyo Game Show is the Holy Grail for those working in the games industry. All the major companies promote their new showcase game there-it’s a “make or break” for the games industry. If you make a splash in the sea of games at the Show, the success of your game is ensured. For game players and games enthusiasts, the Show is not just the “Mecca” of all that is new and classic in the games industry and a chance to play pre-released blockbusters. Rather, one of the dominant drawcards can be found just outside the showrooms . . . No, I am not talking about industry networking but one of the key drawcards to the Tokyo Game Show, the cosplayers.
