ABSTRACT

This section consists of six chapters on classroom testing. Four of the chapters discuss the various test item formats found in most classroom tests. The other two chapters discuss how you can produce, administer, and analyze your tests. Chapter 6 will teach you about completion and short-answer items. You will learn about the characteristics of those items and how to prepare good items yourself. Chapter 7 will introduce you to various types of essay items and how to use them effectively in your classrooms. Chapter 8 will teach you about the characteristics of the multiple-choice format, including how to prepare effective multiple-choice items. You will also learn about when it is most appropriate to use those items. Chapter 9 will introduce you to true-false items and variations of the alternative-choice format. You will learn about the characteristics of this format and how to prepare good items. Chapter 10 discusses the processes that a teacher should go through to build an effective classroom test. Finally, Chapter 11 will teach you how to go about analyzing a test once you have given it to your students.
