ABSTRACT

The Republic of Kenya is in Eastern Africa. It borders Ethiopia to the north, Somalia to the northeast, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, and Sudan to the northwest, with the Indian Ocean traversing its southeast border. Kenya, whose official language is Kiswahili, was given its independence by the United Kingdom in December 1963, and declared a republic the following year. The country of 42 ethnic communities is the fortyseventh largest country in the world, covering an area of 580,367km2 with a projected population of 32m and density of 59 per km2.
