ABSTRACT

The public relations profession in Slovenia is very young, having developed only in the 1990s. Its emergence, and early advances, are documented by Ašanin Gole and Verčič (2000); J.E.Grunig, L.Grunig, and Verčič (1996); L.Grunig, J.E.Grunig, and Verčič (1997, 1998); L.Grunig and Verčič (1998); Gruban, Verčič, and Zavrl (1994); Verčič (1993a, 1993b, 2002); Verčič, D., L.Grunig, and J.E.Grunig (1993, 1996); Verčič, Razpet, Dekleva, and Šlenc (2000); and Verčič and van Ruler (2002). This chapter merges these previous reports, updates them, and places them in a broader sociopolitical context, in line with one of the primary purposes of this volume.
