ABSTRACT

Public relations stands as a new discipline whose recent past and hybrid nature make it vulnerable against old social sciences. In countries like Romania, the revival of democracy after December 1989 created the context in which all developments in the communication field became embedded in the overall process of social reconstruction. Similar to the evolution of species according to which the ontogeny repeats the phylogeny, local developments repeated global and historical development in the public relations field: one could notice the steady movement from press agency function to information services, a process which will hopefully become completely integrated in the corporate vision and generate symmetrical strategic communication of various organizations (Dozier, Grunig and Grunig, 1995).
