What is to be Done? Toward a Rationale for Social Movement Building

The introduction to this volume describes the many dangers that beset the United States, its working people, and its education system. This chapter argues that what is needed in order to realize the radical possibilities that also inhere in these moments of danger is a social movement for the economic and educational rights of working people and people of color.
