ABSTRACT

Thus the Optimization School evolved into the Modeling School, in which project management is not broken into its main elements for study and understanding, but rather looked at as an integrated whole to obtain a full view of the total system. Projects are complex entities, and it is difficult to understand their behavior intuitively without models. The aim of the Modeling School is to build models of projects to explain why they behave the way they do, and help understand what would happen if we were to manage them differently by taking various actions within projects.
