ABSTRACT

If the financial model for remaking urban life takes the “juice” out of the city, as well as having run out of juice itself, then what is likely to happen in cities, particularly those of Africa and Southeast Asia which have been the primary focus here? In this chapter I want to return to the notion of intersection as a way to rethink the possibilities of urban life and what urban residents can do and make with each other. Through this discussion I want to also re-link the notion of circulation to intersection, and talk about the importance of movementmovement at a crossroads, movement for intersection.
