ABSTRACT
Conclusions suggest finality so we have resisted the term for our final chapter. But the book has to close. Some synthesis is needed of how the debate in Part I was developed in Parts II and III of the book. There is no intention here to provide any systematic review of each chapter nor synthesis of the whole. But some observations on the arguments presented and a few questions that remain unanswered are in order.
