ABSTRACT
Strengthening mathematics teaching and learning is not just about getting strong Standards-based curriculum materials into classrooms. There are important questions having to do with how teachers might be prepared to use these curriculum materials thoughtfully and well as a tool to support student learning. As the Senior Program Director of Elementary Mathematics in a large urban district, an important focus of my work is ensuring that schools have the support they need so all students are learning the important mathematics expected by our state frameworks.
