ABSTRACT

T he preceding eight chapters have established the groundwork of theatrical swordplay. The understanding and mastery of the history, guards, parries, attacks, offensive and defensive interplay and safety techniques therein are the synthesis of the art. Like all artistic endeavors, however, there is more than one way to skin a cat. Or in our case, there is more than one way to swing a sword. This chapter is designed to offer a variety of philosophies and techniques that can provide more depth and color to a stage fight. Building on the "perticuler stroks of the point and edg" offered earlier, these techniques allow greater variety to your repertoire of dramatic movement.
