ABSTRACT

But there is, surprisingly, one contrasting moment. In fact, both Ahab and Jezebel have one moment of heroic quality. I Kings 22 relates how Ahab met his death, and we have a vivid picture of the severely wounded king, propped up in his chariot facing the enemy, while the blood flowed down upon the floor of the chariot; and in the evening he died (22.34f.). It is true that the association of this story with Ahab has been doubted, but this is what tradition has come to say of him.
