ABSTRACT

I’ve heard tell that there once was a merchant who had three daughters. The youngest was the best of them, and she was called Rosina. But hersisters called her “Stable Girl,” and they always treated her with disdain. When the father’s fortunes fell, he retired to the country with his daughters. Some time thereafter he received news that one of his sailing ships had been saved and the merchandise recovered, and he got ready to depart for the city.
