ABSTRACT

They say that once upon a time there was a king, who had a beautifuldaughter, more beautiful than words can say. She received marriageproposals from many monarchs and emperors, but her father was unwilling to give her to anyone because every night he heard a voice that told him:

“Do not allow your daughter to marry!” Each and every day this maiden looked at herself in the mirror and said,

“How can it be that I am so very beautiful and yet cannot marry?”—and she continued to be bothered by this.
