ABSTRACT

In a desperate attempt to keep solvent the Art Theatre decided to accept some of the many invitations it had received for a foreign tour. Stanislavski went to Berlin in late January 1906 to make final details for a tour which included Berlin, Dresden, Leipzig, Prague, Vienna, Frankfurt. Towards the end of the tour a special command performance was given for the Emperor Wilhelm II at Wiesbaden, when Stanislavski and Nemirovich were awarded the order of the Red Eagle, fourth class.
