Stanislavski's new status in the company was much as he had envisaged in 1907. The most important feature of the new agreement was his right to stage one production of his own choice a year and in as experimental a manner as he chose. For the rest, he would continue to perform in the roles he had made famous and would accept new roles if they were suitable.
