ABSTRACT
The NC for history and OFSTED inspection reports stress that to teach history effectively, teachers need to use a range of sources of information, including documents and printed sources, artefacts, pictures, photographs and films, music and oral sources, buildings and sites. This is not just desirable, but necessary if pupils are to derive full benefit from the study of the past.
