We conclude with a discussion of these three concepts in relation to nationalism and nation-states. We begin with a discussion of the four major political theories that support different interpretations of these concepts, namely liberalism, conservatism, Marxism and anarchism. Students should be able to argue for and against different understandings of the three concepts, their relation to nationalism and nationstates, and the grounding of these understandings in theories of human nature and the state.
