ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to analyze three programs designed to help people develop the ability to think and learn more effectively. In alphabetical order they are: (1) Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment; (2) Lipman, Sharp, and Oscanyan’s Philosophy for Children; and (3) Whimbey and Lochhead’s short course in Problem Solving and Comprehension. Each was developed independently and each claims considerable success.
