ABSTRACT

I come into this discussion not as a technologist but as an educator, one who has worked with school systems for 18 years. In my past two years at the Department of Education I have talked with educators in the field--with teachers, principals, state superintendents, school superintendents, media specialists, curriculum specialists, computer specialists, as well as school board members and parents -- all of whom were involved with education and technology. More recently, I completed a series of case studies on education and technology for the United States Congress Office of Technology Assessment (OTA). 1
