The conclusion, from a comparison of most of the texts listed above, is that all the texts in Korean, except perphaps for the Seoul University copy, which he was not able to examine closely, are derived from the Jzanmun text as in the 1803 edition. It is also argued that it is mere supposition that the hanmun text was a translation from Korean, and some weaknesses in the traditional account of Kim Manjung's writing of the story are pointed out. The direct comparison of the texts is one of the best that has been made of any kodae sosol, and one certainly could not reject the conclusions without performing the task oneself, but the arguments from the language of the Korean texts could probably not be supported, and there are many points which are not precisely dealt with, especially the early references to this work.
