ABSTRACT
When listeners like a song, they sing the melody-the single dancing line that carries the words. Melody matters, to be sure, but for the songwriter, chord structure matters equally. However pretty its melody, a little song house will only stand up if its chord structure is sound, if the roof and walls stand plumb on a strong foundation.
