ABSTRACT
Entering the studio that June, Springsteen felt prepared. The sessions were being held in Atlantic Records’ new studio in Manhattan, running from early evening to about midnight, after which the Rolling Stones came to mix Love You Live. (Typically, it was not Bruce but Miami Steve who struck up a quick friendship with Keith Richards; Keith admired Steve’s soul-style songwriting, which he’d heard on the Jukes albums.)
