ABSTRACT

I first met Miles in my buddy Bob Seigel’s basement rec room in 1965. Red Garland, Oscar Pettiford and Philly Joe Jones helped with the introduction. Bob’s dad was a psychologist who listened to some jazz, and had given his son In The Beginning, Miles’ quartet album of 1954, which my pal passed on to me after we listened to side two while playing Monopoly and I told him how much I liked it. He didn’t think it was so great.
