ABSTRACT
Anorexia nervosa throws famihes into confusion. Living with someone with anorexia nervosa can be very difficult, as the sufferer's behaviour may seem to be deliberately provocative and selfish. At times like this it can be hard to remember that anorexia is an expression of unhappiness and distress. Families may torment themselves wondering "where did we go wrong?". There are no simple explanations and this is an inappropriate question.
