ABSTRACT
I n a recent p a p e r , H a r r i s , Porges et a l . (1993), u s i n g the H a r v a r d G r o u p Scale o f H y p n o t i c S u s c e p t i b i l i t y , demonst ra ted that a u t o n o m i c tone, as assessed b y card iac v a g a l tone a n d heart rate reac t iv i ty , are m e a s u r a b l y re lated to h y p n o t i c suscept ib i l i ty . T h i s has i m m e n s e i m p o r t a n c e for the use o f hypnos i s i n card iac rehabi l i tat ion — especially w h e n we consider Felten's work (1993) i n psychoneuro - i m m u n o l o g y a n d the i m p a c t o f some stress h o r m o n e s o n some b r a i n cells .
