ABSTRACT

ICTs are so commonplace these days that most of us barely think about them. We just use them. But we pay a price for our mindlessness. Far from simply using them, in many insidious ways we are run by them. Our phone rings? We grab it, even in a fine restaurant. Our email plings us? We turn to check the new message, even during a conversation. In fact, we will often answer it, even if we really don’t have the time to do so.
