ABSTRACT

Looking back at the conference with the benefit of hindsight, I remain uncertain whether Nietzsche's aphorism "that which doesn't kill me makes me stronger" applies to the working over the attendees gave the risk-based paradigm. The conference certainly didn't "kill" compar ative risk assessment, although generally the "harder" the version, the less enthusiasm it received. Yet whether the slings and arrows hurled at comparative risk assessment in our forum and elsewhere will prompt constructive changes that may strengthen it against future attacks is certainly far from clear.
