In this scene-setting chapter we will review the history of the Internet and briefl y describe the physical makeup and protocols which control it. You will then be introduced to some recent developments that will be covered in more detail later in the book. We will also examine some basic e-marketing terminology and discuss the key models of contemporary online business activity.
