ABSTRACT

It is well and good to talk about heredity in terms of power networks, anxious exclusions, societal niches, and metaphors; however-and here each of us bears physical witness-heredity is also real. We humans reproduce. Genetic science-or so goes the argument-proves that centuries of (howsoever muddled) belief in transmission intuited the right path. Is it not vital to acknowledge a reality of heredity that is not a power structure or a metaphor?
