ABSTRACT

Dr. Daniel Gottlieb is a psychologist and family therapist who is much loved and heeded in the Philadelphia listening area due to his public radio call-in show. Since he began broadcasting in 1985, his renown and stature have grown through his newspaper column (recently relinquished), four books, frequent professional appearances, and his Web site, as well as his private practice. When Dan was invited to share his experience of self-disclosure in these pages, he wanted very much to contribute his thoughts on a subject so close to his heart, but he did not have the luxury of time and energy for the writing process. After living with quadriplegia from a highway accident nearly 30 years ago, Dan is watching his body begin to “wear out,” as his physician says. So he invited the editors to his home office on the wooded crest of a gentle hill to interview him on self-disclosure.
