ABSTRACT

Sex counseling is different from sex therapy. In sex therapy, the counselor focuses on sexual dysfunctions, which are identified later in this chapter. In sex counseling, the counselor provides sexual information. The moral obligation of sex counselors is to be prepared to provide timely and accurate data. Counselors must first be comfortable with their own sexuality. They must have the confidence and openness to discuss sexual issues candidly, and they must be willing to be direct with clients.
