Your next step is visiting the internships to which you have applied and interviewing. I am a firm believer in the importance of the on-site interview. Although it may not be required, I feel it greatly enhances your chances of being accepted. Moreover, interviewing in person affords you an opportunity to evaluate a setting and its personnel before deciding if you want to spend a year of your life training there. Chapter 8 deals with all aspects of the interview process. This chapter focuses on travel; if you cannot afford the trip or if you get stranded en route to the internship, all the interview skills you have acquired will be wasted.
