ABSTRACT

In June 1949, after a quick trip to Geneva and jam sessions at a series of clubs in Paris, including the Club St. Germaine Des Prés, 1 Lips returned to the states and began a tour that took him through Chicago, where he appeared at the Silhouette Club, and as far as Minneapolis, where he played the Dome. 2 Television, which had opened its doors to him in 1948 when he had made a brief appearance on NBC’s the Three Flames Show, called again, and he was asked to appear on another NBC program, Eddie Condon’s Floor Show.
