ABSTRACT

The concept for this update project was to review already available research rather than to obtain new data. Recognising the limitations of this approach it was proposed and accepted that at least some fresh data might be obtained for one or two case studies aimed at illustrating and confirming the findings from Crime Free Housing. During the course of the project contact was made with planners and police officers from Northampton. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that recent initiatives, under the Crime and Disorder Act, were being carried out in the north-eastern part of the area used for the layout studies. These initiatives were being carried out under the acronym of CASPAR (Crime and Anti-Social behaviour PARtnership).
