Q5 What does it mean to be liberal or conservative, libertarian or populist, to be green in America today?
POLITICAL INFORMATION IN AMERICA Earlier chapters introduced the basic ideas-liberty, equality, opportunity, limited government, the rule of law-and the basic institutions-separation of powers, federalism, Congress, the presidency, the courts-of American politics. In this chapter, we ask how widely those broad ideas about government and politics are accepted, how and how well they are transmitted from one generation to the next, and what contemporary Americans think about the major political issues of the day.
