ABSTRACT

This research has studied the changing Chinese legal system through analyses of China’s political economy over time. It has focused on the rebuilding and the functions of the legal system both conceptually and substantively in the new era within the context of the global system. In this concluding chapter, I summarize my substantive chapters first and try to put them into a systematic framework. Then I draw some implications and highlight potential contributions for future studies. More specifically, I discuss the nature of China’s socialist market economy, the role of China’s legalization, and its functions within the scope of political reform.
