ABSTRACT

In this chapter we will unfold one of the most intricate problematics in what I call Mozambique’s neocolonial times-the masculinization of the democratic cannon imposed by the west. An accurate way to start such analysis is to contextualize Mozambique’s current neocolonial era in the intricate neo-rightist contemporary predatory insights and practices. In so doing, we will unveil how Mozambique’s neocolonial times are deeply propelled by gender segregation, within the very marrow of unionism and how adult education and higher education are struggling to win the battle for a more just democracy. We will end this analysis claiming that democracy is bypassing the poor, arguing for the need to transform the state as a new social movement, and as an alternative, to build a new just democracy.
