ABSTRACT

At a time of increasing private sector activity in the design, delivery, and evaluation of K-12 educational services and products, this book provides evidence of the paradigm shift occurring from public to private management in public education. Th ere is a quiet revolution occurring in the relationship between the public and private sector in K-12 education that is not being publicly discussed and is likely to have signifi cant implications for disadvantaged children. Private, for-profi t fi rms are becoming the major suppliers to local school systems for an array of instructional services and products.
