ABSTRACT
The apparent suicide of Iris Chang, a highly gifted author and historian, was a severe shock to the Asian American community. It poignantly illustrates the tragic losses of suicide to families, friends, the community, and society at large. This chapter offers a critical review of the literature to
identify key factors underlying antecedents, correlates, and consequences of suicide among Asian Americans.
