ABSTRACT

We agree that multicultural assessment, generally, is a complex and multifaceted task, and that there are many differences of opinion as to how best to accomplish the task effectively. The task is exacerbated when we are dealing with the issue of the assessment of suicidal risk, because of the many as yet unanswered issues vis-a-vis the specifics of suicide assessment. Nevertheless, in this chapter we will attempt to examine the issue of assessment as it relates to the assessment of suicidal risk among ethnically diverse persons.
